Lists like these are never going to be right, especially when graffiti is split into so many groups practicing their own particular styles.
However, it's always the writers who do the most that get remembered — the writers who blanket their cities and put the most paint on as many different surfaces as possible. Each individual piece may be ephemeral or just a fleeting memory, but style (or no style) graffiti is all about getting out there.
These writers are artists making a name for themselves at this given time, the summer of 2012. They represent a diverse group and a vast geographical spread. Some you may have heard of, while others you may have not. Either way, they are the names to know at the moment and will continue to push the future of Graffiti in amazing directions.
