Fascinating Photos Of London's Past

Oral historian Alan Dein began documenting the last remnants of London's Jewish East End in the 1980s. The images depict butcher shops, tailors, shoe shops, and much more… all of which are now either gone or completely derelict. A new exhibition, After You've Gone: East End Shopfronts 1988, shares Dein's photos along side contemporary snaps of those same spaces by Ais Clafferty. Recorded histories add flavor to the pictures.

The exhibition is on through July 12, 2012. More information here. [Londonist]
