Oliver Martin Johnston, Jr. was one of Disney's Nine Old Men, a group of core animators at The Walt Disney Company responsible for the majority of Disney's most iconic films. Johnston joined Disney back in 1935, and spent his first gig animating characters for Snow White. Throughout the course of Martin's lengthy career, the legendary illustrator contributed to classic films like: Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Adventures of Ichabod Crane, The Sword in the Stone, The Jungle Book, Robin Hood, and more.
For more than 40-years, Johnston was one of Disney's lead directing animators, and even co-authored the book: Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life, with fellow illustrator Frank Thomas. On April 14, 2008, Oliver Martin Johnston, Jr. passed away at the age of 95. Today we honor Oliver's memory with a gallery of our favorite Oliver Martin Johnston Disney animations.
