Estevan Oriol (USA)
At this point in his career, Estevan Oriol's name is synonymous with many of the most essential reference points of contemporary LA culture, from its urban and hip hop to lowrider and Latino lifestyles. The city is far from being Oriol's only source of inspiration, however: the past year alone has taken him on shoots to Rio de Janiero, Berlin, Sydney, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Prague, London, Paris, Monaco and many, many more. I have had the fortune to work closely with Estevan and his father, Eriberto, an equally talented photographer who has documented the changing landscape of Los Angeles for more than four decades, over the past six months, and the experience has taught me more about the city than six years of living here has. I think that says a lot about the importance of their work.
