"Keith Haring: 1978–1982" Opens Today At Brooklyn Museum

Keith Haring: 1978–1982 opens today at the Brooklyn Museum.

The first exhibition to fully explore Haring's early career, the show includes 155 works on paper, 150 archival objects (journals, flyers, posters, drawings, etc.) —what amounts to the makings of Haring's unique style. The period covered was pivotal in Haring's development as an artist. He moved to New York, established a studio, and became a fixture on the downtown scene. Making friends with Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, among others, Haring helped facilitate exhibitions and grew significantly as a public artist.

The epic Keith Haring: 1978-1982 runs through July 8, 2012.
