This Saturday, September 10, 2011, Michigan will host the first ever night game at the "Big House." The Wolverines go up against traditional rivals Notre Dame, with both teams celebrating their respective heritage in retro inspired uniforms, drawn directly from the archives. In fitting fashion, the "Under the Lights" collection from adidas relays important moments in the sporting history of both institutions.
Michigan's uniform features a large block "M" on the chest, repeating striped sleeves, a quilted stitch on the letters and numbers, and player numbers fitted on the helmet for the first time since the late 1960s. Additionally, the words "132 Years of Championship Football" are stitched on the inside collar. The Fighting Irish will sport a white jersey with Kelly green lettering along with gold pants and helmet. Their helmets will display a shamrock logo, again used for the first time since the 1960s. Both uniforms list respective NCAA National Championships on the inside bottom hem of the jersey.
Good looks on both sides. Yet, we still wonder "what would Knute Rockne think?"
