When Japanese crime boss Shuinichi Fujikuma was serving a five-year sentence for a charge that involved almost eight kilos of heroin, he met members of an art theft syndicate, who organized a robbery at the Marmottan Museum. Fujikuma later circulated a catalog of nine paintings, which ignited rumors that the Japanese mob Yakuza were dabbling in art theft. Six years later, it all went down when five masked men armed with pistols swarmed the building and made off with the paintings. The artworks were later found in Corsica.
