Edgar Allan Poe by Marlo Marquise
“I've painted Edgar Allan Poe a lot. He’s kind of the first original super-Emo poet as well, a hopeless romantic. He had many lovers die on him so he just lived with this broken heart throughout his whole life. He had horrible luck with his great loves. Since I was really young his writing hit me on a deeper chord than most poets. It was very-very dark, but had a romantic note. I’m drawn to the way he looks, and I think that in any photo you see of him you can see a tortured soul.”
