So genuinely preppy it even gets a shout-out in the Official Preppy Handbook, J. G. Melon’s on the Upper East Side is a prep establishment. Its logo is pink and green (which says enough in itself) and has been around since 1932 and with its green and white checkerboard tablecloths it doesn’t seem much has changed. Don’t be distracted by all the new school burger joints in town, their thick “pub burger” is (and has been) one of the best burgers in the city for decades now. Take a trip uptown for a burger and Bloody Mary to get the full UES prep experience.
