Phoenix Suns allstar forward Shawn Marion is not an average NBA player. With his wiry yet cut build, awkward shooting style and explosiveness on the fast break, “The Matrix” helped his team get deep into the playoffs despite his unorthodox means. And he’s just as distinctive off the court, especially when it comes to his whips. Marion has gathered a fleet of cars in recent years, which may not seem impressive considering he’s an NBA superstar. However, unlike his peers with their shimmering black Bentleys and Phantoms, Marion’s cars are all white. “I think white makes any car stand out,” says Marion. “They’re chic.” The former UNLV Runnin’ Rebel’s first car was a 1986 Buick Park Avenue. He’s come a long way since. His current allwhite sixcar rotation includes a 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera, 2004 Ford GT Mustang convertible, 2005 Dodge Magnum, 2003 BMW 7.60, 2002 MercedezBenz CL 600 and a 2002 H2 Hummer. While white whips may be Marion’s obsession, he makes it clear he’s not trying to brush his shoulders off. “I’m not in a competition with anyone,” he says. “I don’t have to necessarily have a car that costs $200,000. I get stuff I like. I love cars.”
