With little research and no practice, our fearless columnist throws himself into the world of strip club DJing.

It’s not often that the Jack of All Trades goes to the strip club while the sun’s out (unless you’re talking about The Cougar Cavern’s Thursday Shrimp Lunch. Yum!). But tonight I’ll be on the decks at the Players Club in the Bronx, so I’ve got to get to the club early (and sober) for a change to talk to my celebrity advisor, DJ Kay Slay.

Slay’s been DJing at the Players Club for years, so when we talk about the gig, one piece of advice sticks out: “I develop relationships with most all the girls in the club-you gotta have that rapport.” I immediately pull out my Crown Royal bag full of singles and ask the first dancer I see if we can “develop a relationship” in the Champagne Room. Unfortunately, Slay informs me that he means working relationship, so we hook up with a young lady named Tamia to work on a playlist.
