While victory riots are usually filled with fun-loving drunkards, the dreaded post-defeat riot can quickly turn much nastier. After the Arizona Wildcats lost the NCAA Championship Game to Duke in ’01, fans took to the streets with chants of “Fuck Duke!” But when they began smashing the windows out of local businesses, they crossed a line. Cops retaliated by firing off rounds of rubber bullets to subdue the rowdier participants.
