After Vybz left Bounty’s super-federation The Alliance (with Mavado, Busy Signal, Wayne Marshall, and a few dozen other DJs), he sent warning shots out on wax, and the only DJ to respond was Mavado. They traded their most major blows on the Drumline riddim before squashing things (at least nominally) in early ’07. This is like Jay vs. Nas if both had made “Super Ugly”—both are super-lyrical DJs with unmistakable styles, and they knew each other so well that things got personal fast.
