If you’re a record collector who also happens to be an Us Weekly
subscriber, you can satisfy your needs all under one roof. Opened in
2001, Amoeba Records Hollywood is the Los Angeles sister store to
Berkley’s indie records spot mothership. Celebs like Drew Barrymore,
Johnny Knoxville, Brad Pitt and Beck are known to frequent the
warehouse-sized depot in downtown Hollywood. With over 500,000 new and
used CDs, records and tapes in stock, spanning Aaliyah to Zebrahead,
the 35,000 square foot store is one of the largest and most influential
points on the music landscape. Like its Berkley and San Francisco
stores, Amoeba Hollywood has one of the most well-informed staffs in
the record retail world. For hard-to-find vinyl and new Cds, sensitive
emo boys, jazz sophisticates, hip-hop heads and even A-list celebs
check Amoeba first.
