Snoop Dogg Interview

With the release of his ninth solo album, Ego Trippin’, the D-O-Double-G considers both sides of the coin.

As told to Nate Denver; Photograph by Estevan Oriol The good side of fame is people recognize you for what you do…But you can never do anything without somebody recognizing who you are. If you try to sneak around or if you’re involved with something illegal, you can never get away with anything ’cause you’re so easy to recognize.

There’s nothing good about L.A.’s gang culture, not that I can see any more. When I was in it, I thought I was getting real love…But as I get older, I see it’s family you need more than anything, your real family. A gang is just a substitute for that—that’s why I’m not a part of it no more.

I’m not with drug abuse …But what is a drug? They say weed is a drug, but it’s grown out of the grass from nature. When there’s not any chemicals put into it, it’s a natural vegetation.

It’s good that pimping is at a national level…But it’s taken out of context, because if you really know what pimping is, it’s a man sending a woman to a corner to sell her body. It’s not being categorized for what it really is.
