1 I was struggling with the decision to do these Mac commercials, because I didn't want to be a sellout....
But I was talking to a friend about it, and he goes, "Who are you, Johnny Depp? What are you selling out?
Herbie Fully Loaded?"
2 The movies I've done, excluding
Dodgeball, wouldn't be movies I'd voluntarily go see, so
Accepted was the first time I felt really proud and I wanted my parents to see it....
But I hope it doesn't suck now. There's nothing like reading the interview then watching the movie and thinking, What the fuck was he smoking?
3 I got this review of
Jeepers Creepers that said: "Looks like Keanu Reeves," which was flattering, "but without any of the acting talent." My mom put it up on the refrigerator....
But I have such thin skin, so I make a concerted effort to avoid reading anything about myself.
4 I worked with Britney [in
Crossroads] at the height of her fame, and it was maniacal-there were bodyguards everywhere, plus her entourage....
But she was a sweet, simple Southern girl. I saw a glimpse of this girl that kinda just wanted to make fart jokes and hang out and be normal.
5 Vince Vaughn is hilarious-total nonstop entertainment, and not in an annoying way. We'd be hanging out until five in the morning, laughing with a bunch of dudes....
But he's also taught me a lot. Vince grounds his comedy in reality by staying true to the intention of the scene.
6 I love the Deep South-just driving around. I stop at these little towns that are like time capsules and I think it's so beautiful....
But it ties in with this problem I have with time moving forward and growing older and dying. I go through these waves of heavy existential angst.
7 I did this interview with a gay magazine, and the interviewer said, "Okay, my first question: Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn: chuck, fuck, or marry?"....
But I was like, "Are those my only options? Can't I just do another movie with them?"
