The actor's five rules for winning the game of life.
As Told to Justin Monroe
1. Show everyone respect.
The way you carry yourself in a meeting or in the gym should parallel each other. Treat others like you wanna be treated, you know? I'm actually closer to the busboys, waitresses, and bartenders at my restaurant than the actual clientele that goes there. I appreciate people who work as hard as they do.
2. Keep your true friends close.
Most of my pre-fame friends are still around me. People say I travel with a soccer team 'cause I got my boys with me everywhere I go. I don't get any special treatment from my boys. They'll always remind me of embarrassing times in my life. That shit keeps you humble real quick.
3. Be prepared.
My dad always told me to prepare myself so there's never a reason for someone not to hire me. If they ask me to salsa dance, I can do it. If they ask me to unicycle, I can do it. If you claim to be an entertainer, you wanna put your hands in a little bit of everything. That's how they'll know you respect the craft and you're prepared.
4. Be confident, not cocky.
There's a difference between being cocky and being passionate. If you're passionate about your ideas, people respect that because it translates into confidence. It's fun to work with passionate people because you know they are focused. My goal is to own my own movie studio and TV network.
5. Never underestimate yourself.
When it comes to women, no one is out of anyone's league. Whether you're talking to beautiful women or powerful businessmen, just relax and do you. Good-looking or not, it's how you present yourself. But you can't be worrying about girls, girls, girls. Because girls don't pay your bills.
