Men Say: You don’t need to know how many women I’ve slept with.
Kelis says: That’s OK I guess, as long as I’m not made to look stupid, like all the girls are still around and you all have this little secret without me. If they’re out of your life and you did it and it’s over, I don’t care.

Men say: Spending three months’ salary on an engagement ring is obscene!
Kelis says: In every other culture there’s something that has to be given, whether it’s camels or cows or sheep or whatever. In our culture, it’s the ring. It’s supposed to be an investment, a show of love, your promise to take care of this person, to be faithful. So I think three months’ salary is the bare minimum—it can be even more. We deserve that.

Men say: Watching porn is not cheating.
Kelis says: If a guy just does it for fun once in a while or uses it to interact with his girl, that’s cool. Do I like it? I don’t love it, but I don’t really care. Every guy has porn, but anything in excess is a problem—like if you have to have it, you should think about that. That’s revolting.

Men say: I don’t have to say “I love you” all the time—my actions speak for me.
Kelis says: That annoys the hell out of me. I feel like you should just say it. Men are not communicative enough. Sometimes I do agree that actions speak louder than words, but I think your words are also important in a relationship, just as a little pick-me-up.

Men say: I have sexual fantasies that my woman just wouldn’t understand.
Kelis says: If a man really desires something sexually, he should be able to bring it up in a way that’s not gonna scare the crap out of her but make her want to try it, for him. I don’t think it’s fair for him to say, “She won’t get it, so I’m gonna go get it somewhere else.” That’s foul, because you didn’t even give her a chance.
