DAVID GALE THE MOVIE MASTERMIND

David Gale has a simple philosophy: “My job is to find filmmakers who have tremendous talent and vision.” Gale is the man who launched MTV Films, and he personally oversees every one of its productions, from past hits like Election and Napoleon Dynamite to more recent movies like Hustle & Flow and The Longest Yard (coproduced through Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions). After doing such an incredible job, maintaining success is his main priority. “It’s awesome to have the opportunity to thrill people with the different kinds of movies we’re able to put out,” he says. “That’s what’s exciting and fun and what I think we’ll be able to do in the future—surprise people with small films and also give ’em great entertainment with people they love to see in movies like Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Nelly.” Gale’s knack for quirkiness has already given us the “Vote for Pedro” T–shirt.
