As the great-grandson of oil tycoon Jean Paul Getty, Balthazar Getty seemed destined for a life of banks and boardrooms. But all that changed at age 13, when he was handpicked for a leading role in 1990's Lord Of The Flies.

"I had always been performing as a kid, putting on plays for my mom," remembers Getty. "But with Lord Of The Flies, it was one of those amazing stories you hear of being at the right place at the right time."

Since then, Getty has managed to be at the right place on several occasions. Ladder 49, Natural Born Killers, and David Lynch's Lost Highway are only a few of the films on his growing resumé. "I've done a lot of work," says Getty, "but as you get older it gets more interesting. In a way, I'm just getting started."Currently Getty is splitting his time between a regular role on Alias and playing with his band, Ringside. He's just released an album, toured with Weezer, and shot a music video directed by old pal Joaquin Phoenix. "Yesterday I came straight from set and walked onto the stage at the Viper Room," says Getty. "I thought, This is great, this is exactly what I always wanted."
